How to mount LVM partitions

Suppose that we have hda as current working hard drive and hdb as the hard drive with the LVM partition(s).

  • Scan for all devices visible to LVM2
lvmdiskscan
  • Load device module
modprobe dm-mod
  • Change the volumes that exist to active
vgchange -ay
  • Mount the logical partition
mkdir -p /mnt/vol00
mount /dev/VolGroup00/LogVol00 /mnt/vol00
