How to setup Android SDK
This is to build applications for Android
Linux Setup
If installing on a 64-bit system, then install the following packages before to start because Android SDK is 32-bit
yum install glibc.i686 glibc-devel.i686 libstdc++.i686 zlib-devel.i686 ncurses-devel.i686 libX11-devel.i686 libXrender.i686 libXrandr.i686
- Download the Android SDK
- Add to the
$PATH
the tools location
export PATH=${PATH}:<sdk_location>/tools:<sdk_location>/platform-tools
- Install add-ons and documentation
- Download and install plugin for the preferred IDE
Windows Setup
- Download SDK
- Install SDK
- Disable anti-virus
- Install add-ons and documentation
- Download and install plugin for the preferred IDE

Android Studio is now the official IDE
