Some cards are not recognized by MegaCli because they are not RAID controllers per se, ie. some LSI cards including: 

LSI Logic / Symbios Logic SAS2008

found on some Dell servers as PERC H200

Thus, sas2ircu will do the job

Get the list of adpters

# sas2ircu list

Get the status of the the first controller

# sas2ircu 0 status
