LVM

Not a filesystem perse, but a method to allocate space for.

How to mount LVM partitions

Suppose that we have `hda` as current working hard drive and `hdb` as the hard drive with the LVM partition(s).

  1. Scan for all devices visible to LVM2
 # lvmdiskscan

  1. Load device module
 modprobe dm-mod

  1. Change the volumes that exist to active
 # vgchange -ay

  1. Mount the logical partition
 mkdir -p /mnt/vol00
 mount /dev/VolGroup00/LogVol00 /mnt/vol00
