Hard drive image creation
How to clone a Mac drive with Carbon Copy Cloning
It could recreate the whole hard drive over a new disk or just store the image in a specific location, that later will allow duplicat the system or even distribute over Netboot/Netinstall server.
Carbon copy could be downloaded from: http://www.bombich.com/software/ccc.html
There are multiple options that works:
Live system From live system the destination could be:
- Another hard drive with enough space to store the current hard drive.
- Another current systems with, at least, the same size in hard drive, but note that:
- The backup type must be incremental
- The secondary system must be in target mode
Non-running system A system that previously was started up in target mode can also be hooked to a running system and selected as source. The destination could be selected in the same way as described above, and the steps to accomplish are as follow:
- Connect screen, keyboard, and power.
- Turn on and immediately press and hold "t" until screen shows the firewire symbol
- Connect to the master using firewire cable
